Durdle Door

Durdle Door

The name ‘Durdle Door’ may sound like something out of Harry Potter, but it is very much a real place, and you can find it on the Dorset Coast.

Durdle Door is a large archway that’s on a headland that separates two natural bays.

You can’t see it from the road.  You must take a short walk down from the car park.

To get to the car park you actually drive through the Durdle Door holiday park, which may make you think that you’ve gone the wrong way. Keep driving through the holiday park you’ll eventually get to a Pay and Display car park.

If the weather’s nice, you’ll want to bring your beach things. There are two beaches to choose from. One either side of the Durdle Door headland.

When we visited the waters were a clear blue colour that you normally associate with beaches and seas in the Mediterranean.

The water was a lot colder than the Med though 😉
