The Crossing Part 1: I must be mad!

This year I set my self a big challenge: completing the Crossing, a coast-to-coat mountain bike challenge.

We’ve not been out camping as much recently, and that’s because my weekends have been taken up doing day-long mountain bike rides as I’m training for The Crossing!

This is an epic 3-day event, starting on the coast at Whitehaven on the west of the country, and ending on the coast at Scarborough on the eastern side of the country.

But it’s not just about getting from A to B. The Crossing will take me across three national parks: The Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales, and the North Yorkshire Moors.

This is not going to be flat!

It starts on Friday 23rd July 2021, and so not long now.

I’ve just finished my last long ride of 7 hours. Another ‘short’ ride of 4 hours, and other training in between.

I probably won’t be able to walk (or sit down!) for a few days afterwards 😉

  1. Hi Gav & Family.

Great to hear your doing the C2C cycle ride, its fantastic journey. I did it with a few friends back in the mid 90s.

Whitehaven to Sunderland (your route is further and looks epic) . We did it over two days, when the norm at that time was 3 days. No training just went an did it.

We have not been out in our campervan as much either, though we have a 8 nights booked in North Wales in a few weeks. It will be a much needed break.

    Kind regards

    Spencer & Jo
