Meredith Farm Campsite

About Meredith Farm Campsite

Meredith Farm is a relaxed site deep in the Herefordshire countryside.

In July this year we decided to take a short break and camp and at Meredith Farm. It is a relaxed site deep in the Herefordshire country side. When we were there it was very quiet and peaceful. The facilities are basic and have a rustic feel. There is a pound shop for those forgotten items, and a traveller’s tree where people can leave messages regarding their experiences. We found some useful tips.

A stream runs along the bottom camp field which the kids had fun exploring. Watch out for the early morning alarm clock from the neighbouring sheep! Campfires are allowed at this site which adds to its charm and simplicity.

A very reasonably priced site, and a great location for exploring the surrounding area and Forest of Dean.

Meredith Farm is a Caravan and Camping Club certified site.

Camping, but not taking the tent?

So this is not quite the full Glamping, however if you are travelling and don’t want to bring your tent, or perhaps want to give camping a go without investing in a tent, then Meredith Farm has a couple of tents to hire.

The first is a 6 x 7 foot 4 berth tent – though Meredith Farm recommend this is best for two.

There is also a larger canvas four berth tent that’s 13 x 14 foot, so more suited to a family.

You could also hire a tipi/belltent/yurt in a secluded spot by the stream.

Kids (the goat type) on Meredith Farm
If you’re up early then there is the chance to feed the farm goats, which our girls really enjoyed.

There were also free range chickens roaming the site when we visited.

Kids can also go in the Guinea Pigs barn.

What about campfires?

Campfires are allowed at Meredith Farm.

The entrance is easy, straight and level, if approaching from the South. If approaching from the North, it is easier to pass by and perform a U Turn, thus approaching from the South. There are easy places to do this, just past the village. Alternatively, many people take the A40 South from Ross, and join the A466 near Monmouth, heading North. That means leaving the A40, before Monmouth, at a roundabout, signed A466. You will come to a cross-roads with traffic lights - turn right onto the Hereford Road (A466).

Get Out With The Kids rating of Meredith Farm 4.5 out of 5

As a ‘back-to-basics’ campsite, Meredith Farm is excellent, and a good base for exploring the rural Herefordshire/Monmouthshire/Gloucestershire part of the country.

Our rating is based on that fact, so be prepared for basic facilities and a not that flat campsite, and you and your kids will love it.
