Attingham Camp – No cooking required!

Attingham Park Camp

Don’t get me wrong, I am not opposed to camping and as a family, we experience our fair share of ‘the great outdoors’; but as a mum, I equally appreciate a ‘holiday’. To me that means someone else taking care of food, clearing up, entertainment, and so on.

I have 3 energetic, messy, loud boys who need stimulation and do not understand mums need for chill out time!

The event is fully catered; jacket potatoes with tasty fillings, hot drinks on tap, all the camping treats; hot chocolate, smores, marshmallows and plenty of outdoor activities too

For me, Attingham Camp is AMAZING! You get the experience of camping, the fun of setting up the tent and making it homely, but you don’t have the drama of mammoth lists of things to remember to take. Tent. Sleeping mat. Sleeping bag. Toothbrush. That’s it.

Food Time

This is a fully catered camping event!

We did sports on Saturday afternoon, had a fantastic early evening woodland walk with local company Wildlife Survival School, and campfire stories with local National Trust storyteller Martin, who had all the children captivated and in fits of hysterical laughter. And a clear evening sky to do some stargazing with Shropshire Astronomical Society.

Sunset over the camp

Unlike many of my camping experiences, it seemed universally accepted that 11pm was quiet time, with just a few grown ups left with a beer by the campfire putting the world to rights, whilst everyone else was tucked up in their tents.

Campfire at Night

Morning brought breakfast, and a fantastic time for this kids to run loose safely around the play area.

I sipped my hot cup of coffee, that someone else had made, in a cup I didn’t have to wash, on a bench I didn’t have to assemble

As a mum I guess you never completely switch of, but whilst the field of play was ours alone, it provided some precious hours of carefree play whilst I sipped my hot cup of coffee, that someone else had made, in a cup I didn’t have to wash, on a bench I didn’t have to assemble or lug from the car, enjoying the peace of the kids screaming their heads off and chasing each other round the field to their hearts content.
We were blessed with fantastic weather for our camp, but this was also the story last year too.

Playing in the Park at Attingham

I feel like I had a much needed holiday! (Whatever that is!)

I would heartily recommend Attingham Camp.

We were away from home for 24 hours but in that time I feel like I had a much needed holiday! (Whatever that is!)
