Ashbourne Campsite

We visited the Ashbourne Camping and Caravanning Club campsite at the end of October, just before it closed for the season.

Although it’s called the Ashbourne campsite, it’s actually a few miles outside the town of Ashbourne, and not a long drive from Carsington Water, where we had a really good walk and Sunday Lunch in Carsington Village.

The campsite isn’t a massive site, and has a few fields, and children’s play area (including a ball games area), and a nature trail and dog walk.

A nice touch was the fresh coffees available at the site on Sunday mornings.

Tissington Trail, which runs from Ashbourne, is a family friendly traffic free cycle route. However, having seen how busy the road is outside the campsite, I recommend you transport your bikes to Ashbourne in your car rather than cycle your children down the road. You can of course hire bikes at Tissington Trail.

There’s also bike hire and a cycle route around Carsington Water. I just love these signs on the cycle path!
