Sometimes it can be difficult pleasing everyone in the family.
Some (me!) would like to camp closer to nature, leaving all the hustle and bustle behind. Others (kids!) certainly love a bit a of entertainment and amusements.
Then, despite us loving camping, it isn’t always practical. Especially when we have a long way to drive and arrive late at night. Setting up a tent when others are getting to sleep is not good!
So Parkdean Holidays got in contact with us and invited us down to have a look at their Sandford Holiday Park in Dorset. And we were very impressed.
Caravans and Lodges
Dorset is a long way from where we live, and by the time we arrived late on Friday night it was, well, very late.
This time we were staying in one of their static caravans instead of a tent, so we didn’t have to worry about pitching the tent late at night.
We had a caravan with 3 bedrooms and 2 toilets.
It also had a deck for sitting outside.
When we explored around Sandford Holiday Park there were quite a few different caravans and lodges.
But despite being quite a lot of caravans and a lot of people there, it didn’t feel crowded.
Things to Do
We found 3 parks for the kids to play in.
Food wise there’s a small supermarket, takeaway, and a restaurant.
We enjoyed a really good evening meal at the restaurant.
There’s also evening entertainment and a bar, and of course, an amusement arcade.
Camping at Sandford
Just as there are many caravans and lodges, the campsite is massive.
It’s all part of the same park, you can either camp or hire a caravan at Sandford.
If you prefer to camp, then you even have choice here.
There are plenty of hard and grass standings.
You can find some with privacy bushes between the pitches. Other pitches are on a large flat field. And others are nestled under the trees.
So, if (like me) you like to camp closer to nature, there’s a terraced area on the edge of the park next to the fields, where you can camp under the trees. However, if others in your family (kids!) want to go to the amusements, or you want to get a bite to eat instead of cooking, you have that on your doorstep too. 🙂
There was also plenty of facilities around the campsite, and the ones we looked at were kept clean and tidy.

Things to do in the area
As nice as Sandford Holiday Park is, there is so much to see and do in this part of the country.
Here are some of the things we did on our short stay at Sandford Holiday Park.
Durdle Door is a must see bit of nature on the Dorset Coast that’s not too far from Sandford Holiday Park.right
If the weather is good you’ll want to take your beach things as there are two good beaches to choose from.Read more >
This award winning beach has miles of sand.
I also read that Sandbanks is the fourth most expensive place in the world to buy a house.
Also not far from the Sandford Holiday Park is Corfe Castle.
This a former Royal castle that now lies in ruins atop a hill overlooking the Dorset countryside.
A great place for the kids to explore.Read more >
