This is a circular walk in the National Forest that you can take either from the Conkers Discovery Centre, the Conkers Campsite, or the National Forest YHA.
We picked up a leaflet for the ‘Newfield and Stonepit Walk’ of the National Forest while staying at the Conkers Campsite. This walk takes you through some of the industrial past of the area, including the Moira canal and furnace.
However, as we found, much of the route was overgrown and difficult (or impossible) to follow on the official map – especially the Stonepit field.
This route here is our recorded route using Ordnance Survey OS Maps app of the official ‘Newfield and Stonepit Walk’ but with the route we took due to changes in footpaths since the walk’s leaflet was published.
This route is published on Ordnance Survey OS Maps. Click here to read the full route details or view a map of the route.
