The Outwell Rockland 5P is slightly smaller than the larger Outwell Family Tents but still is crammed full of features. We think this tent is ideal for a family of four, giving Mum and Dad a little more space in the three-person bedroom. 🙂
Outwell Rockland 5P Bedrooms
The Outwell Rockland 5P has two bedrooms: a two-person bedroom and a larger three-person bedroom.
We think this configuration is ideal for a family of four. Either you can grab the larger bedroom yourselves to store more things, or if you have kids that are best kept apart, the three-person bedroom could be ideal for them.
Alternatively, you can remove the divider and just have one large bedroom.
All the bedrooms use the darkened inners, which should help when the sun rises very early in the summer. Plus, they use the new Outwell Quick and Quite magnetic tent doors.
There are useful storage pockets in the bedrooms, plus the bedrooms are Outwell’s Ambassador Master Bedrooms, which are 230 cm deep, with more head-height and a better design for raised airbeds or camp beds.

Useful storage pockets in the bedroom.

The darkened bedrooms help you get better sleep.

The larger bedrooms are ideal if you use camp beds or have a raised airbed, like in this photo. Note that you can completely unzip the bedroom doors and store them in the pocket shown at the bottom of the photo.
Flexible Living Arrangement
Another neat feature of the Outwell Rockland 5P is the moveable front.
If you prefer to have a massive living space, you can zip the wall onto the front of the tent, and attach the additional groundsheet that comes with the tent.
Alternatively, you could zip the wall between the porch and the living space, creating three separate zones in the tent: a wet-dry porch zone, a sealed living zone, and a sleeping zone.

More Flexibility
The Outwell Rockland 5P also comes with the Outwell HookTrack system, helping you to place lighting and other hanging items where you want them.

Poles, not Air
With many family tents being inflatable these days, you might be surprised to learn that the Rockland 5P uses steel poles.
There are four sleeves that the poles slide into. Being a tunnel style of tent, this arrangement is easy to pitch.
An advantage of poled tents over inflatable tents is that you can separate the heavy poles from the tent, which can make it easier to transport and store. The poles weigh 10.3kg and the tent weighs 21.2kg.

I agree with, Wendy. While I understood the door moved as one unit, it wasn’t clear that the toggle in groundsheet would leave gapping holes for insects, critters and water to get in.
I can’t imagine a single scenario where you would want to move your door forward and expose your entire tent to insects and water, so why design a door that moves? I’m serious when I say this hole is big enough for a large rodent to get through.
It’s a very misleading “feature” and I’m extremely disappointed.

Just received this tent from ordering at nec show. Very disappointed as we were sold it on the impression that the door could be split leaving the flynet and curtain on the inner and the window part could be moved to the front canopy. This cannot be done the whole door has to move leaving the living area exposed to draughts and unwanted pests if you choose to have it at the front of tent.not the sealed tent we wanted.

Hi Wendy.
That is disappointing you were told that. I didn’t think the door split into two as I’ve only ever seen it be repositioned as a complete unit, with the mesh attached to the door.
When you have the door at the front position, is there no additional groundsheet?
I was expecting an additional groundsheet you can laydown, and I thought that exta groundsheet can be toggled up at the corners.
