Our Review

The Outwell Pinedale 6PA is another excellent large family tent from Outwell that's ideally suited for those family camping holidays.

Living Space

As you approach this tent, you'll immediately notice the porch area and the wing lounge. These both increase the living space available in this tent.

I find the porch area on a family tent so useful as it's a great place to keep the kids muddy shoes, let wet coats dry, a place to sit out but still be sheltered, somewhere to bring the chairs in if there's a shower, and likewise with the kids' bikes.

Such an addition to your family tent helps you keep the inside of the tent dry and warm, especially if you get the fitted carpet (which I recommend).

While talking about the inside, that wing-lounge stuck on the side of the tent really helps with space.  We used a tent with it last year, the Outwell Hartsdale 4PA, and it made a really practical place to put a double chair and additional storage.

When you're taking the kids on a family camping holiday, plenty of space in your tent is what you need.  I also recommend getting a few camping storage cupboards, as you'll soon get frustrated finding their clothes that are buried in bags.  Camping life is a lot easier with a little bit of organisation.

The Tent Bedrooms

This tent is rated to sleep up to six people.  For a comfortable family camping holiday, we recommend this tent is ideal for two adults and a couple of children, who are OK with sharing a bedroom. This will give you plenty of space to make things even more comfortable.

The bedrooms are arranged side-by-side with a divider separating them.  This is easy to remove if you need to quickly get to your children in the middle of the night.

Alternatively, you can remove the divider completely and have it as just one large family room.  This is something we sometimes do.

While the main living space of the tent is light and bright, the bedrooms are darkened.  This will help your kids get off to sleep better if you put them down earlier, and more importantly, should stop them waking at silly-o-clock when the sun rises early in the summer.

You will probably be using this tent with an electric hook-up.  One of the bedrooms has a cable entry making it easier to run lights in the bedroom or charge your phones.

Pitching the Outwell Pinedale 6PA

The Outwell Pinedale 6PA is an inflatable tent. There's only one tent pole, and that simply slots into the porch.

To pitch the tent, you simply peg out the corners and then inflate each air tube with the supplied pump.

The Outwell Pegging System, shown below, also help make this tent extremely easy to pitch.

However, this is a large tent that weighs around 33kg, and so it will take two adults to lift it out of the car, get it out of the tent bag, and move it into position.

Also check that your car, or camping trailer, has enough room for the bag, which measures 91 x 44 x 44 cm.

Alternatives

If you want something similar but a little cheaper, have a look at the Outwell Parkdale 6PA.  It's a very similar tent, but it doesn't have the extra living space with the wing lounge.
