Our Review
There are many things I like about the Outwell Oakdale 5PA. It's very similar to the 2020 Outwell Hartsdale 4PA we used, but slightly larger and with a few more features, so I know this will be a great family tent. :-D
Tent Layout
As you might have guessed from the name of this tent, it is for 5 people. Though in our opinion, ideal for two adults and two children.

You can also see that it has an additional wing on the side of the living area. As with the Outwell Hartsdale 4PA, we found this a handy space for sitting and storage.
At the front of the Outwell Oakdale 5PA is a porch area. This is another great feature I like in family tents as it provides you with a space to leave wet shoes and coats, helping you keep the inner part of the tent cleaner, dry, and warmer. And with the front door unzipped, it also creates an excellent shelter for sitting out with protection from breezes or showers.

But that tent arrangement isn't for everyone or all types of weather. That's where this tent has another trick up its sleeve as you can zip a door to the front of the tent, making the space sealed from the elements.

Plus, this tent uses the magnetic Outwell Quick and Quiet System, making it quick and easy to get in and out of the tent, with no zip noises at night if you need to pop to the campsite's facilities ;-) You can see some of the different configurations of the front door in the video below.

The Bedroom
The divider in the rear bedroom can be removed if you want even more space. We sometimes do this, especially if putting in camp beds.

With the bedroom divider in place, I recommend using the smaller double room for the children, with the adults in the three-person bedroom, providing you with that bit more space.
Both the bedrooms are darkened, helping everyone sleep longer when the sun shines earlier on summer mornings.
Also, notice in the photo above the large rear vent. This can be rolled up, providing airflow and cooling in the summer, or the cover can be lowered if it rains.

The video below shows some options for venting your tent, including the mesh to let fresh air in but keep the bugs out.

Pitching
Ensure you have enough room in your car or camping trailer for this tent, as it is 90 x 43 x 43 cm when packed up and weighs 28.9 kg.
Inflation is easy and uses the Outwell Power Air system, which inflates each tent's air tube. The tent comes with the excellent Outwell Cyclone pump introduced in 2020. I found this a perfect pump for inflating the tent, and it comes with two modes: pump twice as fast with a bit more effort, or switch to an easier setting if pumping is too difficult. That's the setting for your kids to help you inflate the tent ;-)
There is also a steel pole for the front porch part of the tent. This slides into the sleeve at the front of the tent and slots together.
Pegging is straightforward, too, with the colour-coded Outwell Pegging System.

The Outwell Pegging System helps make pitching easier. Silver pegs in the silver loops at each corner of the tent, inflate/insert poles, black pegs through black loops at the bottom, and luminous pegs for the luminous guy lines.
