Our Review
I love camping. However, I don't necessarily like sleeping in a sleeping bag.
I find sleeping bags a little restrictive.
We've tried and tested some great sleeping bags, but I don't like to be wrapped up that tight. Unless, of course, it is freezing.
I find sleeping bags a little restrictive.
The alternative could be to take a duvet from home, but this has drawbacks.
For a start, they are not as warm as a sleeping bag, no matter how thick your duvet is because you lose a lot of heat through the floor, so a duvet just on top is only doing half the job.
So what's the alternative?
The Outwell Conqueror Sleeping Bag - a Sleeping Bag/Duvet Hybrid
When I first got a good look at the Outwell Conqueror, I knew this is a design that will solve a lot of uncomfortable nights for people like me who don't like sleeping bags that much.
Fortunately, Outwell agreed to send us one to try out. So, is it any good?
It's a sleeping bag
Well, it is a sleeping bag. A mummy-shaped sleeping bag, to be precise.
However, unlike other sleeping bags, it has plenty of space, especially around the sides and the feet.
it comes with a built-in duvet
The sleeping bag part of it is made from 700 g Isofill Premium.
However, it differs from many other sleeping bags because you don't zip yourself in. Instead, it comes with a built-in duvet.
It's a duvet
The duvet part of the sleeping bag can be clipped to keep you warm, or you can fold it down if you get a bit hot.
The duvet arrangement is incredibly flexible, even if a bit different to get in than the usual sleeping bag.
More comfort
To further add to the comfort, the lining is cotton.
Now, with a duvet and cotton lining, this is starting to look much more like a bed than a sleeping bag
Now, with a duvet and cotton lining, this looks much more like a bed than a sleeping bag.
Combine it with an Outwell Centuple sleeping system, and you will have a very good sleeping set-up in your tent.
It does have a zip. Just one.
There is one zip on the Outwell Conquerer, along the bottom.
I found this useful for unzipping and staying in the sleeping bag to move around the tent.
Verdict
This is by far our best sleeping bag. We all want to use it, especially when combined with the Centuple sleeping system.
It is an expensive sleeping bag, but there's enough insulation there to see you camping with it from spring through to autumn, and if it gets too hot in the summer, you can fold the duvet back or sleep on top.
This gets the GOWTK Thumbs Up Award.
