Memphis and Phoenix Travel Bags Review
We review the Memphis and Phoenix bags. Retro-looking but modern bags ideal for travel. And not from a brand you would expect.
Two cool retro-looking bags that are ideal for travel. And not from a company you would expect.
Suitcases don’t always cut it.
If you are just popping away for a day or two, packing and carrying a big bag is just overkill. A backpack is much more flexible.
I have been doing a bit of travelling with the Easy Camp Enroute 65 backpack, which looks rather smart. However, that is best suited for hiking in the outdoors. What if you were to stay at a nice hotel in London, or you want something that is a perfect size to take on a flight as hand luggage?
That’s where bags like the Memphis and Phoenix come in. They are retro looking, but modern, and are easy to carry on as hand luggage. And yes, they’re not from a travel company. They’re from Easy Camp too.retro looking, but modern, and are easy to carry on as hand luggage

- 630g

The Easy Camp Phoenix Bag
- 24 Litres
- 2 Tone Grey or Blue
- 620g
- Built-in padded laptop sleeve
We’ve been using both bags for various trips, including a couple of flights, hotels, staying in the caravan, and of course, camping.
They’ve stood up to quite a lot of punishment and are still looking good after months of travel.
I’ve been preferring the Memphis bag, which I think looks a little more retro.
Although slightly smaller than the Phoenix bag, I’ve managed to fit in a laptop, camera, and stuff for an overnight stay.‘nice bag’ comments from complete strangers.
I’ve also got plenty of ‘nice bag’ comments from complete strangers.

The Built-in Laptop Sleeve
The built-in laptop sleeve on these bags is a great addition, and with the lid that flips open on the Memphis bag, getting things in and out is nice and easy.
I also found the top pocket a handy place for passports and boarding passes at the airport, and the front pocket useful for a rain jacket or umbrella.
Verdict
These are great looking and performing lightweight travel bags. We give them the thumbs-up.
If this size of backpack doesn’t suit you and you’d rather something like a duffle bag, then Easy Camp make a retro looking one of those too. Click here to see the Easy Camp bag range.

Nice bag!
Toes the bag stand on its own when you put it down?
And are the shoulderstraps long enough?
Gav Grayston –
Yes, had no problems with the straps, and yes, it will standup on it’s own, though obviously that can depend on what’s in it.
