The good

• Fantastic value for money. A LOT of tent for the money.

• Bug mesh can be zipped close on the main door
• Ventilation at the top helps warm air escape

The not so good

• No separate inner tent (not really needed in this small tent)
• It is a small 'fun' tent, so standing height is restrictive.

Our Review

If your kids are asking to go camping, but you don't have the time or the equipment, then pitching this Easy Camp Moonlight Spire tent in your back garden could be the solution.

This is a fun tent rather than a serious family camping tent.

And it is affordable, at just over £100! 👍

A Proper Tent, NOT a Play Tent

However, this is not a play tent.

You can sleep in it without worrying about getting wet if it rains.

It is made by a proper tent manufacturer, not a toy brand.

So it has the correct tent fabric (with a hydrostatic head of 3000 mm), taped seams (to prevent leaks where the material is stitched), a sewn-in groundsheet (no bugs are going to crawl in there), and even has a bug mesh that can be zipped over the door-opening (you don't get that in many 'proper' tents).

A tipi, but no pole

This fun tipi-style tent brings up the romantic image of wigwams and more traditional camping.

However, with tipi tents, you often have a pole in the middle. In small tents, that pole takes up a lot of space.

Fortunately, Easy Camp designed this tent so that there is no pole in the middle of the tent.

This will give you a lot more space inside. It can sleep up to four people... though you would find it more comfortable with just two or three people.

Bunting Included

The tent even includes bunting for an instant glamping set-up.

Festivals and Summer Extra

Of course, this tent would be great for festivals.

But for family campers, the tent also provides an additional 'pup' tent if you want some extra space than your main family tent (though some campsites may charge extra or an additional pitch - check with the campsite first).

Great to get started

So if you are planning on giving this a try in your back garden, then budget around £200 for the tent and essential extras:

• Sleeping mats will be needed
• Put a picnic rug down inside the tent to make it more comfortable.

Some extras you might want to consider:

• Sleeping bags - but if it's summer and you are in the back garden, grab the pillows and duvets off the kids' beds
• Easy Camp make a Moonlight Carpet (which is great outside the tent and stops things from getting muddy - you can see it in the picture below)
• Camping lanterns and torches.
• To really glamp it, get some outside fairy lights.

Verdict

While I wouldn't recommend this as your main family tent, if you are just starting out and want to try camping with the kids in the back garden during the summer, then this is a great place to start.
