Our Review
Tent Layout
The Coleman Castle Pines 6L tent is a large tent that provides plenty of space, ideal for longer camping stays, such as family camping holidays.
With three double bedrooms, you have sleeping space for six, a massive living space, and a built-in porch.
The Tent's Bedrooms
At the rear of the tent are the Coleman BlackOut Bedrooms.
These are darkened to help you and your family sleep longer on those summer mornings when the sun rises early at the campsite.
Coleman also says that their BlackOut technology makes the bedrooms warmer in the evening and cooler in the daytime.
The bedrooms all have bug-free mesh on the doors, so you can leave them venting during the day without letting in flies and mossies.
Inside the bedrooms, you'll also find handy storage pockets. The dividers can be unzipped if you want to create one huge bedroom. Bedroom dividers that unzip are also useful if you need to get to young children that wake up at night.
You can remove one of the bedrooms completely to create more storage space.
One of the bedrooms has a power cable entry point to run power for charging your phone at night or running powered lights in the bedrooms.
The Living Space
The living area on this tent is huge, with plenty of room to set it up with storage furniture, making it a home from home.
There's a power cable entry on both sides of the tent, which gives you a lot of flexibility when pitching.
All the doors on this inner part of the tent have bug-free mesh, including both the side and main doors.
There are large windows to provide plenty of light and blinds that you can zip up, either all the way or just part-way up to act as a privacy screen.
You can buy a carpet for this part of the tent. This is an accessory we recommend worth getting, as it will provide better insulation to your tent and make it feel much cosier.
The Built-In Porch
Having a built-in porch is great for family camping. It provides a good space to get in and out of your tent if it is raining. It's also where you get your kids to leave their muddy boots and wet coats so that you can keep the inside of the tent clean and dry.
A big open porch is a good place to sit out of the breeze. It's also a great place to store chairs and toys at night to keep them dry.
If you don't like the porch open, you can buy a Vestibule accessory that adds a door and a groundsheet to the front of the tent.
Pitching the Tent
We recommend that the two of you pitch the tent.
It uses tent poles that slot together. These are colour coded and slide into the matching colour-coded sleeves on the tent.
Watch Coleman's video below to see how to pitch it.
