This is a circular walk around the RSPB Gwenffrwd-Dinas Nature Reserve.

There are no facilities at this location; just a small car park and a footpath.

Along the circular walk, you can make a steep climb up to try and find Twm Sion Cati's cave. 

Twm Sion Cati is from folklore, and it said that he hid in this cave. Watch the video below to learn more about Twm Sion Cati.

RSPB Gwenffrwd-Dinas Circular Walk

Nestled in South West Wales, is Carmarthenshire, with its beaches of Carmarthen Bay, and boarded by both the Beacons ad Cambrian Mountains.

Rhandirmwyn is a Camping and Caravanning Club campsite, just outside the Brecon Beacons National Park.

The site is nestled in a valley alongside the River Towy.

The campsite is flat and has three camping fields: hardstanding (closest to the facilities), grass with EHU, and a non-electric grass field. 
There are also lodges at the campsite.

The family rooms are very popular with young families but are also great for those that need a little assistance or just need that extra space. Every room has a hair and hand dryer and while one room is fully fitted to meet the needs of our disabled visitors we also have a room fitted with a baby changing table.

Other on-site facilities include a play area for the children, bbq areas and also wifi for the grown-ups. 

Erwlon is an ideal base for touring, walking or cycling in South West Wales. You can get to all the main attractions and coastal resorts of South and West Wales within a comfortable drive of about a 1 to 1.5 hrs and we have a number of circular tours you can follow to take in the beautiful countryside on your way.

Erwlon Camping and Caravan Park

We’re a small family-run campsite just two miles from Trecastle and 20 minutes west of Brecon in the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park. Our lovely old farmhouse is set in 5 acres. To call it 'beautiful' is an understatement – but we would say that, we live here!

Chickens, owls, kingfishers, red kites, bats, foxes, and otters. Just a few of the creatures we share our land with. As such, we do all we can to keep it looking nice for them and for you.

Ynysfaen is all about peace and tranquillity – a basecamp to explore and enjoy mother nature doing what she does best. We’re not into late nights so we have a ‘no noise policy’ after 10.30 pm. On the other hand, we love early mornings – and waking up to the sounds of the babbling River Usk, the dawn chorus, and the gentle clucking of chickens. If you share this sentiment, then you should really enjoy Ynysfaen.

A little different…

We like to think we’re a little different from most other campsites in the area. Here’s why…

Camping, not caravanning – tents and trailer tents are welcome, but sorry, no motorhomes or caravans,

Canvas, not cars – no vehicles allowed on the camping field. There are wheelbarrows to cart stuff to your pitch, and if you need a hand, just holler!

Quality, not quantity – we love sardines, but only on toast. So you’ll have plenty of room to pitch your tent.

Seclusion, not isolation – Ynysfaen feels far from the madding crowd, but there’s plenty of civilisation nearby, too.

Heat, without hassle – for £5, we provide fire baskets, logs and kindling for those chilly evenings.

Simplicity, not a luxury – we have a modern shower and toilet block, and a covered washing up area, with hot and cold water but no electricity hook-up.

Basics, not banquets – there’s no shop, but you can buy free-range eggs laid by our own chickens and seasonal homegrown fruit and veg.
 
Take on the great outdoors – or just let it wash over you.

Whatever you’re into, there are lots to get up to – whether you’re the adventurous type or just want to chill out in the bosom of mother nature. There’s fishing on the Usk Reservoir, 5 minutes’ drive up the valley. There’s mile upon mile of spectacular walking with breathtaking views of the Beacons and the Black Mountains. There are road cycling and mountain biking (we can arrange drop-offs and pick-ups), as well as pony trekking, mountain boarding, canoeing and canyoning. And for the gentler of mind and body, there are some great local attractions like Dan yr Ogof Show Caves and Big Pit, Blaenavon. We’re really just scratching the surface here, so if you’re stuck for inspiration, just ask, we’ve got lots of ideas.

Canvas & Campfires is a small off-grid glamping site located just 15 mins from the beautiful Cardigan Bay coastline.  The site is located on an 11-acre working smallholding 3 miles West of the University town of Lampeter.

There are 3 safari tents and a small holiday cottage on the farm.  The safari tents sleep up to 6 in proper beds, have comfy leather sofas, well-equipped kitchens and have running water and flushing toilets.  Two of the tents are dog-friendly.  There is a cabin bed in each of the tents which is always a big hit with kids and a 'secret' den beneath it for hiding away.  Each tent comes with a coffee table box which contains board games and other games and bug hunting/pond dipping kits can be borrowed on-site.  

There are lots to do for families both on and off the site.  On-site kids can help collect the eggs, feed the sheep, play in the stream, build dens, explore the meadow field, go pond dipping, forage for fruit and generally run wild. Campfires are encouraged (but are not compulsory!).    Off the farm, there is the stunning coastline to explore, the Brechfa forest, the Cambrian uplands and much, much more.

Come lose yourselves in wonderful West Wales.

Gilfach Wen Barn is a stone barn converted to provide comfortable cost-effective accommodation for extended families and groups of friends on a working farm adjacent to Brechfa Forest and Llanllwni Mountain.   
It sleeps up to 32 people,  with a number of family size bedrooms.  
The property is graded 4 stars by Visit Wales.

Information provided to guests include suggestions on bridges to play pooh sticks,  fords to play at, instructions on building their own kites and places to fly them, as well as the opportunity to come with me when I feed the animals on the farm.

Gilfach Wen Barn

Fforest Fields is a great campsite. You can sit around and enjoy the view, or get out and active (or do both!).
Overlooking the campsite is a hill, with trails for walking, running, and mountain biking. 
You can get a route map from campsite's reception or follow along here. 

This route starts off on level ground and goes all the way around the main lake at Fforest Fields, before heading off up the hill. 
Some of the paths can be slippy, rocky, and muddy. This route tackles the steep bit first, heading up above the waterfall, along the hill on the top path, and then back along the hill at the lower path, before meandering through the trees lower on the slope and returning to the big field at the campsite.

When you are at to the top of the hill, make sure you look back down at the campsite and see just how far you've climbed.

Fforest Fields Hill

Fforest Fields is a family-oriented campsite that spans seven acres and set in beautiful countryside at the heart of mid-Wales near the town of Builth Wells.

The site is nestled in a rural valley surrounded by rolling hills. Lakes, woodlands, and moorlands are all available to explore from the site.
