There's plenty of opportunities to get out with the kids in Scotland, from campsites and other places to stay, plus walks, activities, and attractions.

There are forest walks from the town of Dalbeattie. Park at the Dalbeattie Town Wood car park (charges apply).

For mountain biking, go to the 7stanes Dalbeattie car park (charges apply).  As well as more adventurous trails, they have a family-friendly green trail that is mainly on forest tracks. There is also a blue route too if people are up for some hills, routes, and some rocks.

Whether you stay in our heated camping cabins, Glamping Bothy or fancy a spot of wild camping you'll have a great time.

Located on a small family farm, we are close to sandy beaches and next to forests full of mountain biking trails.

Onsite you can hire bikes, or maybe try a spot of fishing for trout in one of our pools.
Fancy helping out with the animals?  Join us on a farm experience session - riding in the quad bike trailer and help us check on and feed the animals.

We've also got a nature treasure hunt and you can pan for gold in the stream.  Just when your mum & dad are tired, grab them by the hand for a trip down the adventure path (don't fall off the swamp crossing) or a game on Hide & Seek Hill.

For wet days nearby there is the; Chocolate Factory, Ice Cream Adventure Park, cinema, swimming pool with slides, an ice rink and indoor play centre.

We are open all year - and as your mum and dad will be so busy tell them we have the following facilities to make their stay a bit easier:

Gorsebank Camping Village

Barnsoul park is surrounded by a working farm and stunning wooded parkland abounding in wildlife – fox, deer, over 100 different bird species and even the occasional otter. Set amongst woodlands and rolling farmland, Barnsoul is the perfect base to explore our beautiful region. Located just 6 miles from Dumfries and within easy driving distance from Annan, Castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright.

Pitches for tents, motor homes or touring vans are available on a nightly, weekly or seasonal basis. Our comfortable facilities offer: hot water, electric hookups, a shower block with individual cubicles, communal kitchen, picnic area, play park, dog exercise area, laundry facilities, chemical toilet disposal, bike storage, pitch and put, an on-site warden and even free fishing. Don’t want the hassle of putting up a tent? Introducing the crash pad, Bothie, apex pods and little lodges. All Glamping pitches (excluding the crash pad) include foam mattresses, lights, heater, fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave and your very own fire pit which allows you to cosy up at your very own campfire. Barnsoul Caravan Park

SOLWAY VIEW CARAVAN AND CAMPING SITE 

We love camping and had our best memories in mind when we set up Solway View Campsite. Our ideas included having a beautiful, accessible relaxed camping site with great facilities and hot showers. We have created a family friendly site and we don’t expect party people to stay.

We also think camping is so much more fun with a campfire and a lovely view. We have made every effort to work with our location and minimise any impact on the environment. The whole site runs from wind power thanks to ‘Tina the Turner’ our 15kw wind turbine. The top shower block is also aided by solar power. We encourage our guests to reuse/recycling and have great facilities. 

Solway View is a site where you can enjoy the great outdoors and there are great walks around the farm, adjoining woodland and local area.

You can have a grass and/or a hard-standing pitch. Some pitches have an added bonus of a sea view. Every pitch is spacious, has a picnic bench and firepit. We also have pitches with electric hook-up (EHU) and you park at your pitch.

We have our campsite, set out three areas: hardstanding pitches at the top of the site, year-round camping field and the summer camping field. There are also a few hard-standing pitches within the two camping fields for smaller caravans/campervan that like to be beside the tents.

Pets are welcome and as Solway View is on a working farm, all dogs must be kept under control at all times. We have a dog Playarea at the campsite where they can be off lead. Max 2 pets per pitch.

There is an additional charge of £20 per week per dog (2 max) Please note that they cannot be left unattended in the holiday home.
