This is a circular walk, which will take you at least 2 hours, starting in Avebury, the place of the famous ancient stone circle. This place is steeped in ancient history. The walk starts in the big National Trust car park in Avebury, and then you head off past the mysterious man-made Silbury Hill.

After that, you make a slight detour up to the West Kennet Long Barrow.

Following your visit to the Barrow, you return to the loop and towards the outskirts of the villages of West Kennet and East Kennett. Then, it's past the remains of another stone circle, called the Sanctuary. After a walk alongside fields, you join up with the ancient Ridgeway walk, which takes you into the famous Avebury stone circle.
