In the heart of Cheshire is the ancient Roman town of Chester. This town still has a wall encircling it, which you can walk along, old medieval shops, built on Roman buildings, their remains you can see in the basements, and even a Roman amphitheatre.

There's plenty of other places in Cheshire too, with forests to cycle and explore, castles and old buildings, and the coast at by the Mersey.

Cheshire

Delamere Forest is not too far from Chester.
As well as Go Ape, Delamere Forest is full of walking and cycling trails. 
If you've not brought your bikes, you can hire some there.

Just off the Cheshire Oaks shopping complex, you can find the Blue Planet Aquarium, containing one of Europe's largest collection of sharks.  You can even dive with them!!

But it's not just all about the sharks, there are a lot of other exhibits with talks provided throughout the day.

However, we did find walking through the shark tunnel specifically good, though we've not plucked up the courage to let our kids swim with them yet!

If you do want to dive with sharks, then Blue Planet Aquarium does both adult and kids dives.

 - Children must be between the ages of 8 and 15
 - They will be given full instruction and supervised throughout the dive
 - Children's scuba kit provided.
 - Admission for accompanying adult spectator included.

Beeston Castle dramatically commands views over the Cheshire plain, standing atop a large rocky hill.

Camperfest is a 4-day camping event that runs alongside the very famous Chester Food, Drink & Lifestyle Festival. Situated at the beautiful Chester Racecourse campers have the luxury of Chester City Centre five minutes walk away including attractions such as Chester Zoo, Crocky Trails and the Blue Planet Aquarium also close by. Being over Easter weekend there are many themed activities for the kids and also something for the adults which get better every year! 

We encourage campers of all ages and backgrounds, accommodating caravans, campervans, motorhomes and tents. 

It's a great weekend away for families and Camperfest attendees get free entry to the Food, Drink & Lifestyle festival which can be extremely entertaining and educating for everyone.

Pitch & Canvas is a small family run campsite based on a working dairy farm in the heart of the Cheshire countryside. The site is designed to provide quality family time and help families reconnect and relax. With plenty of things to do close by such as the Ice Cream Farm, Candle Factory, Chester Zoo and many more there is always plenty to do. 
However we encourage guests to make the most of the 'natural playground' we have by exploring the Sandstone Trail with its breathtaking views and scenery, nature trails on the doorstep, bat watching at dusk plus much more we have here at Pitch & Canvas.

New for 2019 will be the introduction of new activities such as fact sheets for children to get them to look out for various birds, wildlife, and plants. We also are running a homeschooled activity week designed specifically for children that are homeschooled along with autistic friendly family weekends.

This is the summit of Harthill, which is part of the Cheshire West and Chester 3 Peaks Hiking Challenge

Harthill

This is the summit of Prenton Hill, which is part of the Wirral 3 Peaks Hiking Challenge.

This is an easy summit to bag, with simply a stroll down Tower Road.  
The Water Tower is near the top of this little hill, so to complete this challenge, simply take a family selfie with the water tower behind.
