Scarborough Campsite
With 300 pitches, the Scarborough Camping and Caravanning Club campsite is located north of the seaside town of Scarborough. It's a great base for exploring both the Victorian seaside town, the North Yorkshire Coast, and the North Yorkshire Moors. There are two play parks, a football pitch, and a large games room. There's even an on-site chip shop!
In addition to pitches for tents, caravans, and motorhomes, Ready Camp is also available at Scarborough Campsite. Open for both Club Members and non-Members.
Our Review
We stayed at Scarborough campsite during the #5CChallenge.

A toilet block at Scarborough Campsite
This is by far the biggest Camping and Caravanning Club campsite that we've visited, but it didn't feel too big as it was laid out well, with different areas, and plenty of shower blocks scattered around the campsite, so you didn't have to walk too far.
Check-in at Scarborough was very efficient. There were big enough bays at reception to drive straight into, even with a caravan. You checked in at the office and were given the campsite details, and then someone came on a bike to direct you to your pitch.
Once again, friendly staff directed us into the pitch with the caravan. As there was so much space on this campsite, it was simply a matter of driving onto and driving off the pitch with no reversing :-)

This campsite has two large play parks. Our little lad was off making friends with the other kids on the site in no time at all.
There is also a large recreation room if the weather isn't so great.
At many of the Camping and Caravanning Club campsites we've visited, there's often a mobile chip shop that would visit.
However, at the Scarborough Campsite, there's actually a chip shop on the campsite itself!

Campsite Showers
As you would expect, the facilities around the campsite were clean and well looked after.
Scarborough
The campsite is not actually in the town of Scarborough but just outside. In theory, you could walk to the beach. They did give us some directions at the campsite's reception. However, it wasn't that straightforward, so we took the car instead. ;-)
Scarborough is actually split into two bays. The campsite is on the North bay, where there's a large and long sandy beach. There's also a SeaLife centre here too.
There's metered car parking along the promenade by this bay.
It's a good walk along the promenade that takes you around the headland. We saw some porpoises fishing just off the promenade.
Immediately after the headland, you reach the South beach. This is where you'll find the amusements and entertainment.

Verdict
After staying a Slingsby, a very small campsite, we did have a little bit of trepidation about visiting such a large campsite during peak season. We've had some bad camping experiences at very large campsites where the owners cram as many people in as possible.

Fortunately, this was not the case at Scarborough. Despite its size, this felt like a very relaxed family campsite that never felt 'too big'.
The family had a great time staying here. It gets the thumbs-up from us.
