Rhandirmwyn Campsite
Rhandirmwyn is a Camping and Caravanning Club campsite, just outside the Brecon Beacons National Park.
The site is nestled in a valley alongside the River Towy.
The campsite is flat and has three camping fields: hardstanding (closest to the facilities), grass with EHU, and a non-electric grass field. There are also lodges at the campsite.
Our Review
We spent the August Bank Holiday break at Rhandirmwyn campsite, and had glorious weather to boot!
We took a tent and camped in the non-electric field, with the River Towy running alongside.

This is us pitched in the camping field. This field doesn't have EHU. There are other fields that do.
Rhandirmwyn is located in a valley with hills all around, and so you are guaranteed waking up to a good view.
The River Towy was a gentle trickle and was popular with kids trying to cool down during the hot weather. Though this river can get much more dangerous when in flood, so you'll need to watch your kids if you visit this campsite.

The River Towy flows next to Rhandirmwyn campsite and was popular with kids in the summer with its cool, shallow waters. However, when there has been a lot of rain, you'll need to keep your kids out of it.
The facilities on this campsite were excellent, though there is just the one shower block, and a queue can form for the showers during peak season and peak times. The showers were warm and powerful :-)

Rhandirmwyn campsite just has the one facilities block. This includes laundry and washup, as well as showers and toilets.

Some of the nearby places to eat
Nearby the campsite is the Royal Oak, which we popped along to for a drink.
If you fancy a little longer walk, then the Towy Bridge Inn is very picturesque and does excellent food. We visited there twice :-)

This was our favourite pub we visited. Excellent meals and a perfect location to sit out next to the River Towy.

Enjoying a seat with the view at the Towy Bridge Inn.
There is a walk from the Rhandirmwyn campsite that follows the river towards the Towy Bridge Inn. However, we found this quite boggy, and this would be unusable when the river is in flood. Alternatively, the walk along the country lane doesn't take much longer.

There is a footpath from near the campsite that goes some of the way to the Towy Bridge Inn. However, even in good weather this is boggy and would be impassible if the river is in flood.
There are plenty of walks in the area, including an RSPB Nature Reserve.
You can also find many beaches alongside the River Towy, which make an excellent spot for a picnic.

Enjoying a picnic on the shores of the River Towy.

There are plenty of places to walk near the Rhandirmwyn campsite.
Verdict
We really enjoyed our stay at Rhandirmwyn campsite. There's so much more in the area we have yet to explore.
The campsite is one of our favourites now, and we're sure we'll be back there as soon as we can.
