Nantcol Waterfalls has seven acres of flat camping pitches right next to the river, with waterfalls just a short walk up from the campsite.
As well as camping, glamping and cottages are available.

The Rhaeadr Nantcol Waterfalls campsite is set at the foot of the Rhinog Mountains, just inland from the popular Shell Island campsite, and set between the towns of Barmouth (to the south) and Harlech (to the north).
Set in a valley, it has a couple of large flat areas to pitch, some by a stream and others away from it. The EHUs (electric hook-ups) are only in one pitching area (by the facilities, not the stream).
Great for Kids Exploring
At the foot of the campsite are a stream and large pool. Some families pitched near the pool so that parents could sit with a brew whilst watching their kids explore, others pitched further away.
With all the rain we had the previous week, the kids had to wade into the water above the top of their wellies to get the rope swing. Take plenty of spare clothes!
The stream splits into 3 at the campsite creating a couple of islands. Here there are stepping stones, opportunities to make dams, and bridges.
A trail on one of the islands lets you have a good look at the foot of the waterfalls.
The Rhaeadr Nantcol Waterfalls
If you have older kids and are happy to let them explore the islands and streams within the campsite, it would be wise to make sure they remain within the campsite, as the path up to the falls has cliff edges, and rocks with a lot of moss on, so extremely slippery when wet.
The walk up to the falls is highly recommended. It is not one waterfall but a series of falls that have carved a ravine through the mountainside.
More Exploring
In addition to the waterfalls, there is a lot of wild moorlands to explore, with moss-covered rocks and woods, giant stones, and footpaths to the mountains.
