Well, here is where it happened!
One of visitor's top ten English Heritage family attractions is the Battle of Hastings battlefield and abbey.

Beech Estate Woodland Campsite is Eco Camp UK’s second off-grid family campsite with fully equipped Bell Tents and ‘bring your own tent’ Forest Pitches, including the Faraway Tent Pitches. All our Bell Tents and Tent Pitches allow campfires and are set inside a beautiful woodland area.

Beech Estate Woodland Campsite is located in East Sussex near the historic town of Battle, within easy distance to London, Hastings and the South Coast.

The Campsite is located within the 1900 acre private Beech Estate; a classified Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Campsite is nestled on the edge of a 500-acre woodland. The woodland offers limitless walks, the forest rises perfect for mountain bike riding and areas for kids to make dens and run wild. Guests at the campsite have the exclusive use of the Estate’s woodlands, as there is no access for the general public.
We have a number of Tent Pitches for hire. These are set apart in clearings in our beautiful woodland location. For campers wanting to feel very secluded, try the “Faraway Tent Pitches” which are set on top of a hill looking over Bracken Valley. These very private, although there is a short additional walk to the toilets and shower.

Our lovely Bell Tents are set in the woods, each complete with its own campfire-pit.  The Bell Tents offer a unique, off-grid, holiday ‘glamping’ experience and are set apart in the trees giving solitude and privacy from the outside world. Our Bell Tents offer a comfortable hassle-free option, to enjoy real off-grid camping in our fully equipped pre-erected tents, with beds, cooking equipment and tableware, chairs, picnic table complete with an open fire bbq grill and a firewood allocation.

We have a permanent warden onsite to assist our campers at all times. The campsite is ideal for families and groups, to reconnect and renew friendships, or chat with fellow campers around the campfire. Full campsite bookings are also available for that special celebration.

Adjacent to the campsite is the Estate’s meadowland area of conservation, which encompasses 110 acres of the largest and most important surviving tracts of interconnected ancient meadow in the South East. The Beech Estate woodlands and meadows support birds of prey such as Hobby, Buzzard, Kestrel, Sparrow Hawks and Barn Owls. The meadows are full of Orchids, Ox-eye Daisies, Quaking Grasses, Bird’s Foot Trefoil and Knapweed. As it stands 34 different species of Butterfly have been identified on Beech Estate (including Clouded Yellows and Painted Ladies) as well as a number of rare insects.

We also provide our unique eco toilets and shower in a custom made wooden gipsy style caravan. The campsite is off-grid with no electricity. We have a mains water supply.

We operate a small scale quiet, relaxed and laid back campsite. We don’t allow amplified music and have a low noise policy from 10 pm in the evenings.

Chestnut Meadow Camping & Caravan Park is a family-friendly site. 
We have an indoor and outdoor play area plus an area for outdoor games. A new shower block a shop, a launderette and a licensed cafe that opens for breakfasts and evening meals in peak periods. 
We're located in the heart of 1066 Country with lots to see and do on your doorstep.

Chestnut Meadow Camping & Caravan Park

We are based on a 200-acre family farm In Bodiam East Sussex as short walk across the farm from Bodiam Castle and Bodiam Station of the Kent and East Sussex Railway.  
We offer Family Glamping in unique and Super Cosy Shepherds huts in the woods as well as running tiny little camping sites in separate woods across the farm.  
We run a quiet policy across the farm and given that the sites are all very little with no more than 15 pitches in one place there is a very safe, friendly and intimate feel to the place, allowing children to play freely and explore.

The Original Hut Company

Swallowtail Hill offers a beautiful setting in which to spend a deeply relaxing holiday safe in the knowledge that its impact on the environment will be absolutely minimal. 
Located in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty the farm offers a stylish glamping experience set in 40 acres of meadow, woodland and grassland.  

We have two cosy cabins and two quirky cottages-on-wheels which are our own rather eccentric designs – you won’t find anything similar around. 
Each of our units sleeps four people (one double bed and two singles). 

The site is entirely off-grid.  
Facilities include compost loos and outdoor wood-fired showers. 
Families visiting the farm can join in with the animal feeding every day as part of their holiday experience.  
Swallowtail Hill is also Learning Outside the Classroom accredited and has it's own Forest School - there is a regular Wild Woodland Club for visiting children to learn some woodland crafts and skills and enjoy being outdoors.

Hidden Spring offers twenty-five pitches for tents, campervans and small caravans, set amongst our twenty acres of orchards. 
Well away from busy roads, we are still just a short walk to the village, to link to the Cuckoo Trail cycle path, or to a number of great pubs, via footpaths. 
The site comprises two fields, one with EHU and one, just for tents, with our three yurts in. 
The tent only field is kept car-free, except for setting up. There are two simple play areas with swings and a willow spiral, but most of all there is space.
We offer a number of family-based courses, and a wood-fired pizza man visits, see web site for details and forthcoming dates.

This TreeTop Challenge is 812 metres long with a 170-metre zip wire.

Bedgebury Forest has both the famous Go Ape Treetop adventures, bike trails, and a children’s adventure play trail, so a great day out in the woods.
