GYG is set in the heart of North Wales near Snowdonia National Park. With Camping available on site there is plenty to do all year round.

Tyn Cornel is a beautiful family campsite 4 miles from Bala in Snowdonia National Park it has a stunning riverside location and 4-star facilities.  

Ideally situated for family adventures in North Wales. We have a variety of pitches with something for everyone - back to nature camping with a fire, or electric hook-ups, with grass or hardstanding. Free hot showers and wifi come as standard, and dogs are welcome too.

Tyn Cornel Camping is on the banks of the River Tryweryn within Snowdonia National Park, a short distance from the market town of Bala with its shops, restaurants and pubs.

The campsite is bordered by woodland and a spectacular white water river, surrounded by dramatic welsh scenery. It's perfect for families who want to get into the outdoors or those who just want a relaxing base for exploring local attractions.

The campsite has plenty of space for kids to let off steam and has a whole field reserved for play!

The touring field has electrical hook-ups and a mix of pitches suitable for caravans, motorhomes, campervans or tents. All pitches are on level ground close to the river, with a mix of hardstanding or grass. The main amenities building is situated close to hand, with modern clean facilities.

The traditional grass camping field, without designated pitches, has covered picnic tables and free-to-hire fire pits so you can have that all-important campfire for toasting your kid's marshmallows! This field is also flat and close to the river. It has a drinking water tap, toilets and a small washing up area, perfect for tents and smaller campervans.
Both camping areas are within range of the free wifi. Pets are welcome too, with a dog walk on site.

Despite the close-to-nature feel and riverside location of the campsite, it has a 4 star standard of facilities, it certainly takes the hassle out of family camping when you know you have access to modern conveniences.

Within the main amenities building, there are free hot showers, a laundry and a covered washing up area. There is also an accessible shower room and toilet.
There is free WiFi with good speeds possible from the pitches.

BBQs are encouraged across the whole site, blocks are provided to raise them off the ground.

In the traditional camping field, there are free to hire fire-pits with logs and kindling available for purchase in the campsite shop.

The campsite has easy access to the River Tryweryn with river access and egress ramp on site.

Tyn Cornel Camping

This is a Camping and Caravanning Club campsite that’s in a rural setting a few miles outside the town of Bala, which has the largest natural lake in Wales.
The Bala campsite is smaller than some other Club campsites, with around 50 pitches.

Although this is a Camping and Caravanning Club campsite, you don’t need to be members of the club to stay here.

Based at Bala where the largest natural lake in Wales is, you can find the Bala Adventure and Watersports Centre.
They offer a range of activities both on and off the water, from canoeing and sailing, to mountain biking and climbing, and many more.

## White Water Rafting & Canoeing

Just up the road from Bala is the <a href="http://www.ukrafting.co.uk/">National White Water Centre</a>.  They run a number of rafting and canoeing courses and experience sessions.

The <a href="http://www.ukrafting.co.uk/raftingsafari.htm">Tryweryn Safari</a> is their family friendly white water rafting (children must be aged 10 or over).

After changing into your gear the session starts with paddling lessons.  When everyone is ready to go you set off for 6km of rapids, rocks, and waves.

Wetsuits and safety equipments are provided.  The session is about 2 hours.

## Bala Steam Railway

The above sounds a bit much?  Take the 9-mile return <a href="http://www.bala-lake-railway.co.uk/">Bala Steam Railway</a> that runs along the side of the lake.  The train has a stop half-way at an excellent picnic spot at Llangower.

You can even stay in the excellent campsite by the station at the village of Llanuwchllyn.  (Our little boy loved camping by the trains!).

Llangower, about halfway around the lake, is our recommended picnic spot.  There's a car park, toilets, train stop, but most importantly, a beach and jetty in a sheltered bay.  You'll often find families setting up a day camp here, paddling and sometimes launching boats.

It's certainly a favourite of ours, and a chance to get our inflatable canoe into the water, and also a picnic stop off point when camping further west in Wales.

Lake Bala (Llyn Tegid), Wales

Pen Y Bont Touring and Camping Park is situated 100 yards from Bala Lake, (Llyn Tegid) and is the perfect base for exploring and trying out the many activities that Bala and the Snowdonia National Park has to offer! 
We are a quiet and peaceful, family-run site which can offer families the perfect base to relax but also to explore all that the area has to offer with water sports, walking, cycling, mountain biking, paintballing, white water rafting and the Bala Lake Railway right on our doorstep. 
Only a short drive away is the National Slate Museum, Electric Mountain, Centre for Alternative Technology and King Arthur’s Labyrinth which are all perfect days out for all the family.

Pen Y Bont Touring and Camping Park

Pant Yr Onnen campsite is situated on the southern shores of Bala Lake in the Snowdonia National Park. We have extensive lakeside access so fantastic for sailing, kayaking, canoeing, fishing and open water swimming if your brave enough!
 
We are a family-friendly site where we actively encourage children to play out and explore the site. There is usually a game of football, tennis or rounders going on for those who want to join in.

Most of our families enjoy having campfires down on the foreshore. 

The narrow-gauge railway that runs to Bala and Llanuwchllyn is situated just around the corner from the site in easy walking distance.

The walking around the area is extensive and well signposted as are the cycle routes.
