Go Ape at Black Park is an excellent place to take the kids. 
With a massive Nets Adventure and child-friendly Treetop Adventures, this place should keep the kids busy. 
But if that's not enough, you can go on a family bike ride through the forest. And if you can't bring your bikes with you, you can hire some there.

**Buckinghamshire**, which is also called '***Bucks***', borders Greater London, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, and Hertfordshire. In other words, there's a lot on its doorstep!

Within the county are the ***Chiltern Hills***, an *Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty*, and full of walks.

Fact: The Prime Minister's residence, *Chequers*, is located in Buckinghamshire. *Pinewood Film Studios*, famous for may Hollywood films, is also in the county.

The Cliveden Views walk is a great one for all the family, even with wheelchairs, pushchairs or bicycles. The views from the top of this cliff edge have been enjoyed for years and never fail to amaze.

## <a name="about"></a>About Legoland Windsor

Firstly, it's not all about Lego. <a title="Legoland" href="https://www.legoland.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Legoland</a> is one of the few big theme parks that actually caters for younger children, typically in the 5-12 age range. It's a place we've been back numerous times and somewhere our kids really enjoy.

## <a name="what"></a>So what's at Legoland Windsor?

In addition to the rides, there are also stunt shows at times during the day, and also worth a visit is their firework display at Halloween. It also has a 4D cinema that is well worth a visit.

And of course, there's the Lego. The model village (well actually lots of well-known places from around the world) is very impressive and a great place to take a quieter moment. Some of the rides look like they're made out of Lego - fortunately, they're not.

Some tips for your visit:
<ul>
 	<li>It's on a hill but pushchair friendly.</li>
 	<li>There's a hill train that goes up and down. Save time and walk down (the queues can get long), but catch the train back up.</li>
 	<li>If summer, take a towel and clothes you don't mind them getting wet in as there's a great water play area in Duplo Land.</li>
 	<li>Plan to eat your sandwiches during the stunt show, but get there at least 10 minutes early.</li>
 	<li>If you have kids that aren't yet in school, go in term time.</li>
 	<li>If going at weekends and school holidays, the queues during the day for the big attraction rides can get very long. However, we've often found that about an hour before closing, the queues almost disappear.
After queuing for nearly an hour in the day for Viking River Splash, we were able to go on it in 3 successive times for 15 minutes at the end of the day.</li>

The Legoland Resort Hotel provides the following 3 themed rooms: Pirate Room, Adventure Room, and Kingdom Room. The Pirate Room is the hotel's 'Premium Room' so a bit more pricey, but I notice the room does cater for 2 adults and 3 children, so if you're in the same boat as us (a-ha!) then it may be cheaper than getting two rooms.

Beware that if you put 2 adults and 3 kids into the on-line booking form it may automatically select 2 separate rooms (and the price to go with it). If it does this then choose the Family option of 2 adults and 3 children (displayed at the top of the results screen) and then click update, and you'll see a price closer to half of what it first quoted.

Hurley Riverside Park is a family and pet-friendly campsite on the banks of the River Thames in Berkshire.

Walk in the footsteps of the famous children's author <a href="http://www.roalddahl.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Roald Dahl</a> to where he and his children walked for inspiration and to test out his stories.

Roald Dahl, the famous author of books such as <a href="http://amzn.to/2EXrWgL" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">The Fantastic Mr Fox</a>, <a href="http://amzn.to/2EZUTJ3" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Charlie and the Chocolate Factory</a>, <a href="http://amzn.to/2EZislp" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Matilda</a>, and <a href="http://amzn.to/2mWlZto" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">The Big Friendly Giant</a>, used to live in the village of <a href="https://www.visitchilterns.co.uk/market-towns/great-missenden.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Great Missenden in Buckinghamshire</a>.

This walk starts at the <a href="http://www.roalddahl.com/museum" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre</a>, where you can sit in the cafe and fuel up before heading off!

The first part of the walk takes you under the railway on the edge of the village. While you might dismiss this little tunnel as simply an urban obstacle that separates you from the countryside beyond, it's actually a rather special place for Roald Dahl. This is where he would bring his children down, sometimes at night, to test out his new stories on them.

After the tunnel, you are soon out of the village and into the countryside.
Not long after a walk through a field, you approach <a href="https://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/visiting-woods/wood/?woodId=24761&woodName=angling-spring-wood" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Angling Spring Wood</a>, which is where Roald Dahl got inspiration for The Fantastic Mr Fox.

The Roald Dahl Walk

Go Ape in Swinley Forest near Bracknell not only has their famous TreeTop Challenge, but also the Go Ape Forest Segways.

Regardless of wanting to do a zip wire that is 160 metres long, or staying much closer to the ground on a Segway, Swinley Forest should be a great day out as there are trails, both for walking and cycling, around Swinley Forest.

This is the summit of Highwood Hill, which is part of the Greater London 3 Peaks Hiking Challenge. Yes, a 3 peak challenge in Greater London.
Unfortunately, the peak of 146 m above sea level, is within a farmers field.  However, there is a public footpath you can take that gets you very close to it, which is good enough to bag this high point of Greater London.

This is the summit of Arkley, which is part of the Greater London 3 Peaks Hiking Challenge.
Ok, so Greater Londer isn't known for a 'three peaks challenge'. Mountains aren't in great supply in London.
However, this is one of the high points, even though you can bag this summit from the road!
