Disney Junior is launching a new TV show aimed at encouraging kids to get out and explore the natural world…
Starting on Monday 14th July over on Disney Junior is a new TV programme called Wildlife Jack.
It’s about a young boy who sets off on adventures to explore the natural world, in the hope that kids watching it are inspired to drag their parents out so that they can get outside and explore too.
Combining the wildlife videography you see on BBC wildlife programmes with modern animation, this new TV series will hopefully hit the mark.
Getting it off the ground
Interestingly, this TV series was an idea that Ed Kellie (the director behind shows such as The Apprentice) and his wife had. They raised funds using a Kick Starter campaign, where the public donate money to get projects off the ground, and then it was taken up by Disney Junior UK.
Here’s some of the original sketches for Wildlife Jack and some extracts from the series:
A familiar voice
Wildlife Jack will be narrated by Chris Packham, who’s interviewed here by the National Trust.
If you have young children and can get the Disney Junior channel, then don’t forget that it will be broadcast on Monday 14th July at 4:4o pm.
