The Last Camp of Summer

September sunshine has meant a bit longer camping this summer.
As I write this, it's the first weekend of Autumn, and the National GetOutside Day.
Fortunately, this year, the weather has been glorious. However, right on queue, there is a definite Autumn feel to the air here at GOTWK HQ in Shropshire.
Last weekend, was the official last weekend of summer, and so we headed off to one of our favourite campsites, Fforest Fields in mid-Wales. We also had glorious weather - and a bit warmer too!

If you aren't familiar with Fforest Fields, it's a great campsite with fantastic facilities. It's not too big, and the pitches are well landscaped for the extra privacy.
It also has walks and mountain biking right from the campsite, plus a lake, where you can canoe, paddleboard, or wild swim.
Not content with walking up the hill that overlooks the campsite, we decided to run it!

When you look back down at the campsite from the top of the hill, you can see how far you've climbed.
Most people walk this route. You can follow our route map here.

After running and paddleboarding, we decided to take a bike ride.

This ended up being a bit of an epic bike ride with plenty of hills to climb. What an exhausting day!
We took the Outwell Hartsdale 4PA tent, along with furniture for our weekend camp, which included two campbeds.

All the camping gear worked really well and we even tried something new - Movie Night in the tent!

After the kids go back to school, September is often overlooked for camping. But keep an eye on the weather forecast, as you might get a week or two of extra summer camping in before the weather changes.
