This half term (23rd May until 31st May 2015) is the National Go Canoeing week.
This year the aim is to clock enough miles between us to paddle from the UK, crossing the Atlantic Ocean, down the coast of the USA, across the Caribbean, and down to Rio….and then back again, crossing the Southern Atlantic, up the coast of West Africa, along the western shores of Europe, and then back to Blighty. Whew. I feel tired just writing that!
Fortunately this is a team effort, and you don’t actually have to cross the Atlantic Ocean and paddle the entire 24,901 miles yourself!
Up and down the country there will be lots of organised sessions.
If you’ve not been paddling before, why not try one of the Starter Sessions or one of the Guided Tours (click here to see the tour we took last year).
If you are a bit more experienced, try one of the 1 or 3 mile challenges (we tried the Lake Bala challenge last year).
After you’ve got on the water, simply log your miles on the website here: www.gocanoeingweek.org.uk
You can also log your miles even if you just get on the water with your own canoe somewhere.
Fancy giving it a go? We’ll be doing it 😀
