We spent two days at the NEC this February visiting the Caravan, Camping, and Motorhome Show.
Despite this year’s show not being in the half term, and so there were no kids activities such as the climbing wall that has been there the last few years, it was still a great show. And absolutely packed out.
We had a great time and saw some great items. We’ll be following up with a more detailed look at some of the things we found at the show.
However, if you didn’t manage to make it to this year’s show, this will fill you in. And even if you did go to the show, maybe there’s something here you missed 😉
Caravan, Camping, and Motorhome Show Highlight Reel
First up, here’s a short video of some of the highlights.
New Tents for 2016
There were a few new tents this year, most notably from Outwell who have updated their range. More air framed tents, but there’s still some steel framed options too. Plus, the larger bedrooms in some of the range is certainly going to make things even more comfortable.
Coleman also has some new tents, with an interesting blackout bedroom.
Vango’s range appeared largely the same, though they’ve updated the colours of some of their models.
We’ll bring a more detailed look at these tents soon.
Motorhomes and Caravans
With our introduction to a motorhome back in October last year, we certainly could appreciate more a lot of the details on both the caravans and motorhomes.
It was great to see a lot of manufacturer’s particularly catering for families.
We have some more details on family caravans and motorhomes coming soon.
Accessories
As usual, there were many accessories for all aspects of your camping, caravan, or motorhome holidays.
A few really caught our eye. We’ll try and bring you some more details on these items soon.
New Places to Stay
This year’s show had a very impressive glamping village.
The amount of places to stay across the country has increased significantly, and if you or your family don’t fancy sleeping in your own tent, there’s a lot of options now available to you. Including, this Hobbit-inspired glamping set-up.
- If Hobbits went Glamping
- Straight from the movies
- A hobbit
- Gandolf at the show!
LEGO Caravan
At the Freedom To Go stand was the caravan that’s completely made of LEGO!
I had seen the video footage of this before but actually seeing it in the flesh (or in the ‘Brick’ I suppose!) it was amazing to see the attention to detail that had gone into it.

- Love the breakfast cooking on the stove
- A caravan made of LEGO
Discovery Theatre Talk
There was a lot of demonstrations and talks available on the Discovery Theatre.
I was so pleased to have been asked to give a talk on family camping, and it was quite an honour to see my name on the billboard right next to adventurer Sean Conway.
Anyway, I tried to give a talk packed full of information, which appeared to have gone down well given the feedback I received 🙂
Caravan Towing
Whilst at the show I also took the opportunity to try caravan towing.
This was surprisingly easier than it looks.
More details on this coming very soon!
The Dog Agility Shows
The every popular and excellent Dog Agility Shows were back again this year, and, as always, they were fantastic.
Having just introduced a baby four-legged friend into our family recently, we have a whole new appreciation for the skill of these handlers and trainers.
Ashleigh (made famous from Britains Got Talent) gave lots of useful training tips, which we lapped up! 😉
- Ashleigh from Britain’s Got Talent
- Dancing Dogs
- Puppy Love
Stay tuned for more details.
