  • Works well as a projector.
CONS:
  • The top sleeve on the projector could be slightly larger to help with the assembly and complete disassembly. However, there's a way around this.

PROS:
  • Technical Cotton for the luxury and traditional feel, which also helps with heat and sound insulation.
  • The tent material has a UPF50+ rating, helping to protect your family from UV rays when inside the tent.
  • Zip up blinds and tinted windows for privacy at the campsite.
  • Lots of tent doors to choose from.
  • All exterior doors and bedroom doors have bug mesh to help keep the insects out.
  • Larger than standard bedrooms, with an even bigger main bedroom.
  • Darkened bedrooms for a better night's sleep.
  • Quick and Quiet door on the main bedroom and main door to the living space.
  • Massive living space with plenty of room for camping furniture.
  • Large and flexible porch zone.
  • Power cable entry into the tent, bedrooms, and porch zone.
CONS:
  • Price. The Outwell Yosemite Lake 6TC is an expensive tent. Technical Cotton is excellent, but if it's not high on your priority list, opt for one of the other large Outwell family tents with polyester-based material. It will be cheaper, and you'll get just as many, if not more, features.
  • The tent is heavy, even when split into two bags. You will need AT LEAST two people to help pitch it.
  • The tent is designed for extended camping stays and is too big to be practical for just one or two nights camping at the weekend.

PROS:
  • A great family layout.
  • Plenty of space for camping holidays when staying many nights.
  • Steel poled, with poles in separate bag, to make transport easier.
  • Top of the range Outtex 6000 Pro tent material, with 6000 mm Hydrostatic Head.
  • UV protection for tent and occupants up to UPF50+
  • When pitched correctly, rated to Wind Force 10 (storm winds)
  • Zip-up blinds. Makes it quick and easy and can be set at different heights for added privacy.
  • Tinted privacy windows.
  • Large front door, plus two additional side doors.
  • Bug mesh on all openings to keep the tent insect free.
  • The excellent Quick & Quiet doors on the main living door and the main bedroom.
  • Much longer bedroom size than standard: 230 cm deep.
  • Front part of tent can be used as porch or additional living space.
  • Storage pockets throughout.
  • Electric power cable entry on both sides of tents, plus into bedrooms, and into porch/front zone.
CONS:
  • A tent this high spec is obviously expensive. However, much cheaper than a caravan (and with more space), and a lot cheaper than a package holiday for a family.
  • The tent is large, and we would not recommend if you are only thinking of camping for a single night at the weekend.

Outwell Norwood 6

The Outwell Norwood 6 tent has many of the features of the more expensive Outwell family tents but in a more affordable package. The tent has a smaller living space than some of the more expensive tents. However, this smaller size will make the tent easier to use for short weekend camping. And with the addition of the tent extension, you can add more space if you need it for longer family camping holidays.

£453.19
The Outwell Norwood 6 provides flexible family camping. If you don't want an inflatable tent and want a tent that is good for both longer and shorter camping stays, you get a lot of features for a much-reduced price compared to the more expensive Outwell tents.

PROS:
  • The three bedrooms provide a flexible sleeping option for many families.
  • The tent has three zones: sleeping, living, and front wet/dry porch area.
  • It's not too big for weekend camping, plus you can get an extension for longer camping trips.
  • Colour coded poles and pegs to make pitching simpler.
  • 4000mm hydrostatic head material with taped seams.
  • The material is fire-retardant and rated UPF30+ to help protect your family from UV rays.
  • When pitched properly, the tent is rated up to wind force 8 (a gale!)
  • The excellent Quick & Quiet door on the main bedrooms.
  • Bedrooms are 215cm long, which is longer than standard.
  • The bedrooms are darkened for a better night's sleep.
  • All the windows are tinted, which helps with privacy.
  • All windows have toggle-up blinds.
CONS:
  • Although cheaper than the larger Outwell tents, if you want to use this for a more extended camping trip, such as a week in the summer school holidays, I recommend getting the Outwell Universal Awning for this tent (size 5). The awning cost will, of course, stretch your budget further.

PROS:
  • Great layout for family holidays. The front area of the tent is excellent as a wet/dry zone.
  • Large windows to let in plenty of light that are tinted for additional privacy.
  • Each window has toggle-up blinds. The blinds can be toggled halfway up, providing a further privacy barrier.
  • You can roll the front door back to create a sheltered porch.
  • The door between the front and living areas uses the excellent Quick & Quiet mechanism and includes a bug mesh.
  • Two additional side doors can be open but sealed with bug mesh, which helps keep the tent cooler when the weather is hot.
  • One side door has a porch to be used as an alternative rain-safe entrance.
  • There's a zipped cable entry on both sides of the tent, making it easier to hook up the electricity.
  • Both bedrooms have a cable entry point. Ideal for powered lanterns or charging your phone at night.
  • There's cable entry from the living space into the front zone. Useful for powered lanterns there.
  • The tent can use the HookTrack system (additional accessory) to help position lights exactly where you want them and even hang up a movie screen :-)
  • Bedrooms are longer than standard at 215 cm long. The main bedroom has a Quick & Quiet door.
  • There are storage pockets in each of the three tent zones.
  • The tent material is fire-proof and has a 4000 mm hydrostatic head with taped seams. It is also treated to UPF30+ to help protect its occupants from harmful UV.
  • The tent includes guy line storage, which is extremely helpful for the next time you get the tent out.
  • When pitched correctly using the storm straps, the tent is rated to wind force 9, which is a strong gale!
  • Tent pump with pressure gauge included.
  • Optional fitted carpet accessory (highly recommended) and footprint to help protect the underside and position the tent.
CONS:
  • Tent bags for inflatable tents tend to be larger and heavier than poled tents, as you can always separate the poles into a separate bag for poled tents. So make sure you have room to store and transport the 100 x 45 x 45 bag (which may be larger after you pack the tent away for the first time). At 33.4kg, you'll want at least two people to lift it to avoid injury.
