Lake Annecy is stunningly beautiful, with its bright blue waters surrounded by mountains, forests, and picturesque Alpine towns and villages.

There are also many things for the active family to do in this region, from hikes and cycle rides to whitewater rafting and paragliding for the more adventurous.

Don't forget that there are many holiday parks here too, with swimming pools and sun loungers, and beaches on the shores of Lake Annecy. Who needs the Med?

We explored this region while staying at <Link href="/places/holiday-park/camping-la-ravoire/">Camping La Ravoire,</Link> which gets the thumbs-up from us.

The Languedoc-Roussillon region covers the south-west of France, with the Pyrénées in the west bordering Spain, and the sunny coast of the Mediterranian in the south.

Languedoc & Roussillon

Although not the closest part of France to the UK, Normandy in the North West of France has strong links to the UK. Of course, there is the Norman invasion of 1066 leading to Norman rule, and in more recent times, the D-Day landings in WW2. Plus, Normandy is very close to the Channel Islands.
