Amlwch and Parys Mountain, Anglesey

April 5, 2013

Parys Mountain is an old industrial centre where minerals such as copper were mined.

We went there on a sunny day and the colours were amazing (my picture doesn’t do it justice), and it looks ‘out of this world’, which I guess why the BBC have filmed Dr. Who there.

There are a few circular walks that are well marked out that will take you past quarries, old ruins, ponds, and up and down the hill (take plenty to drink, it can get quite hot on this trail on a sunny day).

Just down the road is the old port of Almwch, where a lot of the minerals were shipped off, and a good place to stop off for a spot of sea air after climbing the copper mountain.

What’s in the area?
