We visited the Conkers Discovery Center in the Autumn Half Term 2017 – an appropriate time of year to visit a place called Conkers!
We were staying at the nearby Conkers campsite in the National Forest.
Visiting at the end of October perhaps didn’t show Conkers Discovery Centre in the best light, as some things looked tired or were closed. We also chickened out of the Bare Foot Trail walk 😉
The discovery centre is quite large (around 120 acres) and split with two sites: the main Conkers Discovery Centre and Conkers Waterside. These are connected by a train that you can hop on and off.
Not surprisingly, being in the National Forest, there are woodland walks, as well as an ‘Activity Trail’ with assault course style obstacles to tire the kids out.
There are indoor attractions and exhibits too, including a 4D cinema with some ‘unique’ experiences.
Despite being there quite a few hours, there were some of the attractions we didn’t manage to do: the Hi-Ropes, Lo-Ropes, 40ft high Powerfan Descender, Zip Wire, and the 30ft Climbing Wall (though there was plenty of climbing on the Activity Trail). These all have an additional fee to the entrance ticket.
I believe the High Ropes course has a minimum participant height restriction of 1.4m.
