Blue Planet Aquarium

Diving with Sharks at the Blue Planet AquariumJust off the Cheshire Oaks shopping complex you can find the Blue Planet Aquarium, containing one of Europe’s largest collection of sharks.  You can even dive with them!!

But it’s not just all about the sharks, there are a lot of other exhibits with talks provided throughout the day.

However, we did find walking through the shark tunnel specifically good, though we’ve not plucked up the courage to let our kids swim with them yet!

Diving with Sharks

If you do want to dive with sharks, then Blue Planet Aquarium does both adult and kids dives.

  • Children must be between the ages of 8 and 15
  • They will be given full instruction and supervised throughout the dive
  • Children’s scuba kit provided.
  • Admission for accompanying adult spectator included.

When we checked the price for a Junior Shark Encounter was £140, which is a similar price as most up close encounter ‘experiences’ with big animals at zoos…. though most zoos and safari parks only let adults close to their dangerous creatures.

More details can be found here on the Blue Planet Aquarium website.

  1. We came here last year with our two children. There were lots of lovely fish and the tunnel we went through with all the sharks in was fantastic, but having two small children I would’ve liked it if there were more interactive features – and places to sit, too, as you walked around the tanks.
