Greater London 3 Peaks Hiking Challenge

Greater London – England

This challenge is on Greater Londen, rather than Central London, and as such, just like the national three peaks, there’s quite a bit of travelling from the first peak to the others. Unlike the national three peaks, there a no mountains to climb 😉

The first summit is in a small woodland called the Sanderstead Plantation in Croydon.

The second summit is at Mote End Farm at Highwood Hill.  Technically this summit is in a field just behind the farm, and so you won’t get to the highest point as shown on the map. However, there is a public footpath and you can claim this summit simply by taking a selfie at the Mote End Farm signs, which are close enough to the summit.

Follow the signed footpath onto Arkley, where the final peak is.

For this last summit in the challenge, there’s no need to wander onto the Arkley Golf Course. Instead, take a family selfie with the strange looking Arkley Water Tower in the background.

How to Complete the Challenge

  1. Click the button underneath each photo to view the summit on a map. Plan your route to each summit, making sure it is a summit that is suitable for your family.
  2. Try and do all three summits within 24hrs... or a weekend 😉
Track how many miles you walk in doing this challenge.
  3. Get as close to each summit as is safe and legal to do so, then take a group selfie.
  4. Come back to this website and record your 3 Peaks Hiking Challenge result, uploading your three photos and recording your mileage. You'll be added to the hall of fame for the challenge, awarded more Active Family Points, and your mileage might have earned your family a new hiking badge.

Note

The summits on this page are suggestions for your own organised activity and not part of the official Three Peaks Challenges.

Some challenges are easier than others. Some challenges have serious peaks, such as the Munros, and should only be undertaken with the appropriate skills and experience. Remember to only take on the challenges appropriate for your family. The button to view the map for each peak can help you with that planning.

If these challenges have inspired you to take on the official Three Peaks Challenge be sure to visit the official website, where you can also join in on an organised Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge or the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge.
