About Grizedale Camping at Bowkerstead Farm

Grizedale Campsite is located between Lake Windermere and Coniston Water.

The site has new facilities, with camping in the field near the farm or in the wooded areas. The campsite is open all year.

A local pub is nearby for food, and the village of Hawkshead is only four miles away.

If you fancy glamping it up, the site offers six camping pods (max 4 people) and yurts (6-8 people). Each yurt has a private parking space and fitted with a log burner.

Horse Riding Holidays

The site also accommodates horses and runs horse riding holidays.  You can camp or stay in a yurt, or one of the many local B&Bs.

What about campfires?

Campfires are allowed in both the field and wooded area. Firewood is sold at the site.

How much will it cost?

Camping is £7 per adult per night, and children £3 each.

There is no EHU on site.


There are 6 camping pods in the woodlands at Bowkerstead Farm. The Pods cost £30 per night and sleep up to 4 people.

They must be booked in advanced, and there is a minimum of 2-night stays at weekends.



Yurts £50 per night in the week; £55 per night at weekends.

There is also a Yurt with a log burning stove.  This is £60 per night in the week or £70 per night at the weekend.
