Kidcampz: Making a Den / Tent / House / whatever you can think of!

Kidcampz Play Tent Den

I suspect most of us parents have found ourselves helping our kids make a den out of a blanket, some chairs, and some cushions.

Whist they have some fun, I know our kids sometimes get disappointed that their creations do not live up to what they had in their mind… often a tent like they have when camping, or a house, or whatever else is currently on their mind.

Well Kidcampz have a solution for this with their den / play tent creation set.

Watch our video below.

What is kidcampz?

kidcampz comes with a carry bag
Kidcampz is an ingenious play tent set designed by Simon and his family, that enables you (and your kids of course!) build different shaped dens or tents.

They sent us over one to review, and we were really impressed.

We’ve got through our fair share of play tents over the years. Normally the pop-up type, that despite being easy to pop-up and fold down, they still take up a lot of space when packed away.

The kidcampz comes in a neat bag, which is an ideal size to fit into a cupboard (unlike the pop-up play tents that often like to pop themselves up in the cupboard!). It also comes with handles and a good size to fit in the car boot, so great for take around to friend houses to play.

Inside the bag are a number of poles, connects, and a large sheet.

You can use the kidcampz both indoors and outdoors.

Building a dens and tents

Putting it together
Building a den or tent is, well, child’s play.

You have connectors that slot into the end of the poles. These connectors have a number of different angles, so you can easily build different shapes.

Building a den is child's play
If your kids like making things, such as with LEGO or other connect-it construction sets, then they’ll quickly pick up building with kidcampz. In fact, in some aspects, it’s a life-sized LEGO set.

Using the straps to lash the kidcampz together
You also get some velcro straps so that you can lash poles together….just like some improvised camping shelters 😉

The sheet itself is quite large, and so there’s plenty of room for lots of different dens and tents to be made.

It also comes with a hook in the middle (both a fixed hook on one side and a velcro one on the other), so that you can hang it.

There’s a roll up door, mesh windows, and cool little pockets for things like torches.

The sheet is also water resistant, so you can use it outside – the set comes with tent pegs too so the kidcampz is great for winter indoors and summer in the garden.

Kidcampz Tipi Tent
Our youngest (just turned five), was soon building away – and then later re-building, making extensions, and changing his designs.

Using Outside

Remember, dens can be built outside too.

Another bedroom?

Sleeping in the Kidcampz tent
After building many different tent shapes, our youngest dismantled it and built another kidcampz tent in his bedroom. He slept in it all night.
