Autumn is a fantastic time of year for hiking with your family. The scenery can be stunning. Get older kids to take photos; younger kids to collect leaves.

Autumn is a great time of year for a family walk...

Go for an Autumn Walk

It's getting chilly here now, and the Autumn winds have started stripping the leaves from the trees.  Winter will soon be here.

But as we enter the last few weeks of Autumn, the season is leaving on a high note, and just this weekend, we went for an excellent Autumn walk through a forest and up a hill (over 1000ft, so a big hill).

Autumn is a great time to take photos. You could even get your kids involved and teach them photography. This can be particularly good for older children to give them something to focus on. (See teaching older kids photography for more info).

Leaf Collecting Season

Of course, if you have younger kids, you'll collect leaves.

We found some really big leaves when walking through the forest.

Of course, this time of year can be muddy, so be prepared for some washing afterwards!

Here's 18 tips for a woodland walk.

There's still time to enjoy Autumn. So please put on your coats, hats, scarves, and welly boots, and get outside and enjoy it.
