If you’re in the Forest of Dean then Puzzlewood is well worth a visit – especially if your kids are fans of BBC’s Dr. Who or Merlin.
Puzzlewood is a place that requires seeing to believe. Think of all those “enchanted forests” film sets… but this is for real.
There’s a number of paths to walk around and things to try and spot. It’s not as easy as it sounds.
This can be a real magical place, with lots of ravines, grottos, bridges, and a few props left over from BBC filming.
The path is actually a bit of a maze, and whilst there’s always a few that claim they saw everything and it only took a few minutes, for most this will take a good while, and no guarantee you’ll find everything.
As with most woods, wellies are advisable if it has been raining.

Star Wars Episode VII has been filmed at Puzzlewood
Unlike the original Star Wars film, which was shot among the magnificent giant red woods of Northern California, the new Star Wars Episode VII has gone for the more mystical appearance of Puzzlewood.
Below is a picture of film equipment left behind by the Star Wars crew.
The Puzzlewood car park was completely taken over by trailers.
